The art of Text Messaging

I can't remember the last time I've sent an email. Acutally, take that back, I turned in an assignment for an English class via email recently. And the only reason I did this was that it was the only way to attach my document (or the only way I know of). Well, I guess I could have faxed it... but seriously? Faxing? Sending a fax is almost comparable to recieving a telephone call through one of those bell shaped cups with the string on the end. Hmm, what about the pager. Once known as commincator for the business class, we thought we would never see the end of the infamous movie scene where the busy husband gets called away from his love via pager. Ahh those were the days! Going back to bell shaped cups, what about the telephone? The telephone sits atop the communication world as the King over a dying city. Still powerful but at the same time, losing control of the loyal subjects. Whats this? They are all moving from the city on the hill to a new city thats sweeping a nation. The first commercial text message was sent in 1992. It read, "Merry Christmas." How fitting. Can you imagine the look on an eight-year-old's face when he unwraps his christmas gift only to find a cell phone staring back at him. But wait, this isn't just any cell phone, it comes with unlimited texting! Yay him! He rips it open and frantically begins loling and jking all his friends. In 2000, only 17 billion commercial text mesages were sent. We shrug and scoff; what only 17 million? By 2001, it was up to 250 billion and by 2004, over 500 billion. Did he just say 500 billion? OMG thts alt of txt messages Jill (she's my bff). Dont worry, theres only 6 billion people in the world. Pshh thats not that many text messages.

Text messaging or txting for short has taken over our lifes. It is the most widely used mobile data service in the world and it looks as if it is only going to be getting bigger. Idk abt u Jill but id say we're n for some intrstng times ahead.
